Hiking tour in Slovakia

Slovak Paradise National Park

is one of the most beautiful national parks in Slovakia. Numerous narrow and deep gorges with waterfalls you can find here.
The most visited gorges are Suchá Belá, Veľký Sokol, Prielom Hornádu and Kyseľ, as well as ferrata Kysel.
Wonderful and breathtaking views offer Tomášovský view and Kláštorisko with ruins of the Carthusian monastery.
If you like gorges and wild nature, this place is really for you.

High Tatras National Park

is most popular and most visited NP in Slovakia. More than 600 km of tourist trails with breathtaking views.

Program

1. day
Transfer from Vienna/Bratislava to the High Tatras NP
In the morning, or in the afternoon, we’ll head straight into the High Tatras National Park.
Three-hour journey takes us to the North-Eastern part of Slovakia, passing Low Tatras National Park.
En route we will also spot some of Slovak cultural and natural landmarks - castles, mountains and beautiful landscapes. In the afternoon we will do our first hike, easy and relaxing one.
Starting in the village Štrbské Pleso, 2-hour comfortable walk
Difficulty: easy
Your well-appointed accommodation will provide you with an excellent dinner, and breakfast the next day.
2. day
The Sucha Bela canyon and Spis castle - Spissky hrad
The Sucha Bela canyon is the most favorite, beautiful and romantic place you can visit here.
You will experience many ladders, chains and footbridges. Trips to this gorge are unforgettable experience with magical views and stunning nature.
During the whole hike, the tourist pathway leads along the stream. In narrow places, there are wooden footbridges and also some ladders.
You will see many waterfalls. After the rain and in the beginning of spring, the level of water in streams is higher and the pathway is sometimes full of muddy sections, and rocks can be possibly slippery; therefore, it is necessary to wear high waterproof trekking boots with Vibram sole.
This canyon is one of the most visited; that’s why we don’t recommend hiking here in the period of summer holidays – July and August. On the other hand, the most beautiful hikes can be carried out in April and May, June and during autumn, September and October.
If you can travel in Slovakia only in July or August, we can go for this hike to Sucha Bela canyon, or we can choose another one with less people on ladders.
Difficulty: moderate

Late afternoon, on first day or second day, we'll visit Spis Castle, one of the largest mediaeval castles in Central Europe.
3. day
High Tatras route to the Green lake

This is one of the most popular and beautiful hikes to the Zelené jazero cottage. (Green lake)

The route is much more popular than others because the scenery around this lake is amazing and different from the other mountain lodges.

A full-day hike with an easy to moderate level, but with many hours of hiking. (about 6 hours in total)

Lunch at the cottage.

After the tour, we'll come back to the hotel in approximately at 16:00 – 17:00 PM

4. day
The Slovak Paradise National Park – hiking path above river and across the Klastorska canyon with waterfalls and ladders.

This is really amazing tour!

We’ll walk above river. Just you, steps, rocks and chains and river below you. Be careful, do not fell down :-)

Also we'll walk across the Klastorska canyon.
There are many waterfalls on relatively short route of the gorge. It is moderately difficult round hike. The first part goes along the exposed canyon section of so-called Prielom Hornádu secured by the footbridges, chains, footboards and ladders. It is important to be very careful during the crossing.
The second part consists of a hike on a comfortable terrain on the pathways in woods, and the whole hike ends in Kláštorisko.
Moderately easy to moderate
5. day
